SHEEP..

I've often wondered why in the Bible we are referred to as SHEEP. If you have ever taken a brief moment to study SHEEP they are pretty "dumb."  Not saying any of this to be rude or ugly by any means. When I blog it is never intended to hurt, harm, or belittle a person, but always to bring insight.  I know for me there have been many times when I've had questions about life and read or heard something and got understanding. The best part of getting that understanding is that most of the time I hadn't shared my questions with anyone.  I said that to say this: I know that God is real and "He is not a man that He should Lie"  So when I see that He refers to us as SHEEP I know there has to be an amazing reason as to why?
Psalms 119:176 says"I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments."  What caught my attention was the Psalmist said "gone astray like a lost sheep."  I've learned that we are compared to SHEEP either way. Whether lost or found we are still SHEEP.  Even Jesus is referred to as a SHEEP, He is called the "Lamb of God."  So I'm not offended about it I just want to discover the mystery behind it....If by chance you know nothing about the character of SHEEP here is a brief summary the way I understand them:  When a SHEEP is lost or strays he does it in such a way as to make his own return utterly hopeless.  Even though when bleating and answered by it's flock the lost SHEEP will continue away from the sound of the flock in the direction they are going astray...so much til they are out of hearing range of their flock....Crazy isn't it? I can see myself already! Now this may not be a revelation to you but it is to me.  Now I know why we are compared to SHEEP.  Maybe some of you out there can relate: Some Adults have the I'm grown I can do what I want syndrome, Some Teenagers view their parents as their enemies for the boundaries placed on their lives, and Toddlers even test the waters because they are in learning mode...I said all of that to say this: We all have a Shepherd's voice in which God has placed in our lives.  However sometimes even though his voice is bleating to lead us back to our flock or the right place in our lives we continue to go in the direction that is leading us astray.....and eventually the Shepherds voice Fades away.  Oh yes now I know why we are compared to SHEEP.  My prayer now is that you will listen for the Shepherds voice, turn towards it, and walk that way!...
